The World Closes In

Twenty years ago, it was unusual for an immigrant to be a part of the cultural landscape of mid-western United States. However, so much has changed and now it is quite common to have neighbors who are from several African nations as well as numerous Latin America countries. Of the two responses that are most frequently publicized, (1) if they came to America, then they had better adapt to our customs or (2) why don't we ship these people back to where the came from; neither of these approaches align themselves with Biblical thought nor with common decency. For those who would contend to be "Christians," our approach must be that of aiding the immigrant, doing all we can to help them acclimate to the new scene.
